April 23, 2009 – (RealEstateRama) — The Alabama Home Builders Foundation, the charitable arm of the Home Builders Association of Alabama, recently awarded scholarships to 85 students in Alabama. The scholarships were given to students who desire to study the building trades or construction-related curricula at two-year, four-year and technical colleges throughout the state.
Several students received special scholarships through the Foundation. Ryan Alexander Bracken, Torrence Campbell, Janeka Harris, DeMichael Jamal Steele, Santray Walters, DiAnthony Withers, ToiLanthony Withers, and Bradley Wright all received Malone-McQueen scholarships, given in memory of Charles and Mary Malone and William N. McQueen, and in honor of Polly McQueen.
Tyler Sample received the Jon Michael Hill Scholarship, given in memory of Jon Michael Hill, the son of HBAA member Rep. Mike Hill.
Timothy Landon Turner received the John H. Street, Sr. Scholarship, presented in memory of John H. Street, Sr., a longtime member of the Greater Calhoun County Home Builders Association.
Whit Winford and Brandon Seth Michael each received a Bentley Owens scholarship, given in memory of Bentley Owens, one of the charter members of the Home Builders Association of Alabama.
