BIRMINGHAM, AL – July 7, 2011 – (RealEstateRama) — Tornado survivors can get answers on how to plan and accomplish their permanent housing goals at the Housing and Recovery Expo in Walker County Saturday, July 9.
Many Alabamians are still recovering from the April and May storms. The State of Alabama Housing Task Force, working with the Alabama Emergency Management Agency and the Federal Emergency Management Agency, is hosting the expo to provide key answers to survivors’ most frequently asked questions in a comfortable and familiar setting.
The event will also include participation from community businesses, voluntary organizations, the U.S. Small Business Administration, and other state and federal agencies.
Attendees may also expect assistance regarding:
- Banking;
- Crisis counseling;
- Foreclosures;
- Fraud counseling;
- Insurance concerns;
- Legal aid; and
- Rebuilding.
The Walker County Housing and Recovery Expo will take place July 9 at Walker High School from 12:30 to 5 p.m.

FEMA’s temporary housing assistance and grants for public transportation expenses, medical and dental expenses, and funeral and burial expenses do not require individuals to apply for an SBA loan. However, applicants who receive SBA loan applications must submit them to SBA loan officers to be eligible for assistance that covers personal property, vehicle repair or replacement, and moving and storage expenses.
