Homeowner, The Family Handyman share latest homeowner hacks

Washington, D.C. – February 16, 2016 – (RealEstateRama) — Homeowner Media and The Family Handyman want homeowners to work smarter not harder. That’s why the two are joining forces for a one-time special series on Homeowner Hacks.

With the surging popularity of “life hacks” among consumers looking to save time and money, Today’s Homeowner TV and The Family Handyman magazine are pleased to present clever, innovative tips and tricks designed to make the task of home improvement a little easier.

The partnership will officially kick off Feb. 15, when the Today’s Homeowner cast and crew meet up with The Family Handyman editorial team at their headquarters in Eagan, Minn., where the group will spend the week taping a special episode of the nationally-syndicated Today’s Homeowner TV show. The episode titled “Homeowner Hacks” will feature National Home Improvement Expert and host Danny Lipford and his co-host Allen Lyle, working alongside popular Family Handyman personalities Spike Carlsen and Travis Larson.

“At Today’s Homeowner, we are always working on projects our TV and radio fans want to see and hear about just like our friends at The Family Handyman who do the same thing through their monthly magazine and website,” said Lipford. “I’ve always wanted to partner on a project like this. Homeowner Hacks is the perfect fit that will deliver creative, useful information to our audiences.”

The episode is set to debut the week of April 25.

Fans of the show can look forward to seeing some of the following projects on the Today’s Homeowner TV episode:

Storage Hacks: Homeowners never seem to have enough storage and will find easy solutions for stowing bulky items such as athletic equipment in the garage, and shoes in the closet. Additionally, they’ll learn ways to maximize space that often goes overlooked, and to store awkward items such as wrapping paper and haircare items like flat irons and blow dryers.

Painting Hacks: While painting is a popular, easy and inexpensive way to improve the home, it can get messy. Today’s Homeowner and Family Handyman pros will demonstrate several painting hacks to keep brushes cleaner, prevent splatter and help DIYers achieve a smooth, professional finish.

Disguise Hacks: All homes have those practical-but-unsightly items that would look better in disguise. Viewers will be treated to clever ways they can “hide” a family messaging center, thermostat and computer router.

In addition to the Today’s Homeowner television episode, handy fans will have a chance to read about “Homeowner Hacks” in The Family Handyman magazine. Slated for the June issue, Editor-in-Chief Gary Wentz saysaid, “Readers will be treated to some of the most ingenious hacks we’ve discovered in the last few years; hacks that cleverly solve common homeowner headaches, like cleaning paint brushes, starting a stubborn lawnmower, eliminating kitchen or garage clutter. As always, readers will get straight advice and how-to help from experienced pros. All of us at The Family Handyman look forward to working with — and learning from — Danny and the Today’s Homeowner crew. We always enjoy swapping ideas and know-how with our fellow DIY experts.”
