3 inducted into Alabama Building Industry Hall of Fame

WASHINGTON, D.C. – (RealEstateRama) — Wrendon Davis of Davis Plumbing Company in Birmingham, Joe Hocklander of Mobile Gas, and Cliff Pitman of H.C. Pitman Inc. in Fairhope were this year’s inductees into the Alabama Building Industry Hall of Fame, the highest honor presented by the Home Builders Association of Alabama (HBAA).

The induction ceremony took place during the HBAA’s Annual Convention awards banquet on Friday, Oct. 28, at the Hilton in downtown Nashville.

Wrendon Davis is the President of Davis Plumbing Company and has been a member of the Greater Birmingham Association of Home Builders since 1982. He has built playhouses as fundraisers for the GBAHB’s Educational Trust Fund and provides plumbing for Habitat for Humanity during its annual Builders Blitz in Birmingham.

A staunch advocate for trade education, Davis has worked closely with trade and technical schools in partnership with the Alabama Home Builders Foundation to provide educational opportunities for students interested in pursuing careers in the homebuilding industry. Most recently, he assisted with the passage of House Bill 373, which improves upon the standards of education for professionals employed in the plumbing and gas fitting industry. In 2001, he was named the HBAA’s Associate of the Year, and in 2016 he received the CADRE Associate of the Year Award from the National Association of Home Builders.

Joe Hocklander joined the staff of Mobile Gas in 1982, where he currently serves as the Senior Marketing Rep. He is a member of the Home Builders Association of Metro Mobile and the Baldwin County Home Builders Association, and has been extremely active in both, particularly in serving on their Associates Councils and Membership Committees. At the state level, Hocklander has served as HBAA Associate Committee Chair and the Past Associates Committee Chair. In 2011 he served as HBAA Associate Vice President. In 2009 he was named the HBAA’s Associate of the Year.

Cliff Pitman launched H.C. Pitman Builders in Fairhope in 1979 and joined the Baldwin County Home Builders Association the following year. A longtime board member for the BCHBA, he chaired its RAP Program and worked on several Habitat for Humanity projects. He served as BCHBA President in 1989.

Pitman has served on the HBAA Executive Committee since 1989 and has chaired several committees, including Membership, Land Developers and BUILDPAC. He served as HBAA President in 2010 and was President of the Alabama Home Builders Foundation in 2014. In 2001, Pitman was named the HBAA’s Builder of the Year.
