Washington, D.C. – November 7, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) today applauded the Nov. 5 victory of ABC Alabama Chapter member and former state Sen. Bradley Byrne in a Republican special primary runoff election for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives representing Alabama’s 1st Congressional District.
“At a time when the construction industry needs reassurance that our concerns regarding issues such as health care, economic development and project labor agreement mandates are being addressed, Alabama is poised to send another ABC member to congress,” said ABC Alabama Chapter President Jay Reed. “Bradley’s commitment to Alabama’s construction industry has always stood out. Now he will stand up for us in Washington D.C.”
ABC endorsed Byrne’s campaign and provided financial support through its Political Action Committee (ABC PAC). Byrne earned the most votes out of the large nine-candidate primary field on Sept. 24, before winning the runoff election against Dean Young on Nov. 5. He will face Burton LeFlore (D-Ala.) in the general election on Dec. 17, which Byrne is likely to win.
“Bradley has a history of advocating for pro-business issues, specifically those impacting the commercial construction industry,” said ABC Vice President of Government Affairs Geoff Burr. “As an ABC member, he understands the free enterprise principles our association was founded on and we look forward to working with him when he joins fellow ABC member Rep. MarkWayne Mullin, who represents Oklahoma’s 2nd Congressional District, in Washington, D.C.”
