Birmingham, AL – July 2, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Congresswoman Terri A. Sewell (D-AL) announced that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has awarded a $3.7 Million loan to the City of Birmingham to revitalize the Powell School Building.
Integral Group, a local developer, will use the funds to acquire the building which is a vacant former schoolhouse. The building will be converted into 24 units of studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments. The property is located in a state-designated redevelopment area in northeast of downtown Birmingham.
