Sales of single-family homes in the Birmingham area fell 4.7 percent in April, the fourth consecutive monthly decline from the previous year.
Birmingham Association of Realtors spokesman Dave Mace said 1,434 homes were sold in April, down from 1,505 in April 2006. The average selling price also slipped in April to $195,379 from $196,471 a year ago. The median price was $155,000, compared to $161,500 in 2006.
